2 mois que je voyage!! Tant de chose a faire et si peu de temps. Je stresse. Je pense recler mon billet de Quito a New York.

 

Tafi del Valle est un petit village tres tranquille mais apres la chaleur a Tucuman, il faisit plus frais. On est reste dans un hospedaje ou il n y avait que nous. Je me suis battue avec la douche car les douches froides ce n est pas trop mon truc. Il va falloir que je m y habitue car en Bolivie c est un luxe l eau chaude. On a fait un tour puis sommes montes au point panoramic (cf photos), accompagnees de 2 chiens errants. Biensur il a fallu que je partage mes biscuits!!  On y a recontre un Argentin, Agustín que nous avons revu plusieurs fois a Cafayate.

 

Le midi j ai mange des TAMALES=farine de mais avec de la viande, des oeufs et des epices cuits dans une feuille de mais J. On a visite une chapelle et le guide etait tres interesant.Puis, comme je suis curieuse je suis rentree dans un atelier ou on fabrique des bijoux. Le monsieur nous a explique les metaux qu il utilisait et nous l avons revu ensuite dans son magasin au centre du village.

Nous voulions aller a Quilmes (ruines) mais il n y avait pas de bus et c etait complique donc depart pour Cafayate.

 

13/04

Le paysage commence a change et devient plus desertique (cf photos). En bus on est passe dans des petits villages ou ils labourent les champs avec des chevaux. Nous sommes restes dans un hostel sympa qui organise des excursions. On a laisse les affaires et nous sommes parties a la Quebrada de las conchas, cela ressemble a la valle de la mort et au grand canyon (cf photos). Nous y avons reencontré d autres aregentins et Sophie, un francaise. On (8 personnes) est parti mange un ASADO=barbecue pour 10 pesos (2.50 euros) mais la viande etait un peu trop cuite pour moi mais le vin etait bon.

 

14/04—GRAND JOUR JE SUIS TATA

Visite de 3 bodegas et on a eu droit a goute. Le vin de la regio est le Torrentes qui est blanc mais moi je n aime pas trop. Par contre j ai achete un rose pour arroser la naissance de ma niece:Emma puis on fait une PICADA=tapas.

Ils font aussi des glaces au vin: Cabernet/Torrentes. Biensur j ai goute. C est special mais bon.

J aime bien Cafayate car c est tranquille.

L hostel a organise un ASADO et nous etions environ 20 de 10 pays differents et j ai rencontré un couple de Sheffield. Le monde est petit.

 

15/04

J ai trop fait la fete la veille et j ai eu mal aux cheveux et ai ete malade. Pas trop le pied pour prendre le bus. J ai dormi tout du long donc je n ai pas pris de photos L. J ai meme fait la sieste en arrivant a Salta!!!

Salta est une grande ville avec beaucoup de touristes allant ou venant du Chili. L hostel est sympa et j y retrouve Adam (Israel) et Lucy (UK).

Le soir avec Federico (Argentin) et Andy / Claire (UK) nous sommes partis voir une PEÑAS= danses folkoriques avec des mouchoirs puis j ai mange du LOCRO= un genre de cassoulet mais avec des pois-chichesJ. J ai biensur ete invitee a danser ainsi que les autres. C etait tres sympas. Nous etions les seuls etrangers.

 

16/04

Je pars demain pour San Pedro de Atacama (Chili) et je ne peux pas tirer d argent avec ma carte, la plaie!!! Heureusement que je parle la langue. J ai fait plusieurs banques et j ai reussi a changer pour des pesos chiliens et dollars car les excursions sont moins cheres en USD. J ai mis plus d 1 heure entre faire la queue et trouver le bureau de change. Je suppose que cela fait partie du voyage!!!

J ai maintenant plus de 500 photos et je vais les faire graver sur CD pour ne pas les perdre.

 

Je vais aller faire un tour dans la ville et prendre le telecabine pour monter au point panoramic. Ensuite pour ma derniere nuit en Argentine, je vais manger de la bonne viande et aller a la fete car Salta a 425 ans aujourd hui.

2 months that I have been travelling!! So many things to see and so little time. I am thinking of delaying my trip to NY. I ´m stressed.

 

Tafi del Valle is a small village very tranquille but after the heat in Tucuman, I really felt the cold. We stayed in an hospedaje where we were the only ones.  I fought with the shower to get some hot water because I am not keen on cold ones. However, I will have to get used to it  since it is a luxury in Bolivia. We went round the village and went up to the panoramic view (see photos), with 2 homeless doggies. Of course I had to share my biscuits with them!!  We met an Argentian guy, Agustín whom we bumped into later in Cafayate.

 

At lunch time, I ate TAMALES=corn flour with meat, spices, eggs and wrapped in a corn leaf J. Visit of the chapel and the guide was so interesting. Then, as I am nosy, I went into a jewellery workshop. The owner explained what metal he used and we saw him later in his shop in centre of the village.

We wanted to go to Quilmes (ruins) but no bus and it was complicated so departure to Cafayate.

 

13/04

The landscape is changing and has become more like in a desert (see photos). We went through small villages where they still use horses to work the fields. We stayed in a nice hostal who organises tours. We left our bags and went to la Quebrada de las conchas (see photos), it looks like Death Valley and the Grand canyon.We also met others Argentian guys and Sophie, another frog. 8 of us went out to have an ASADO=barbecue for 10 pesos (2.50 euros) but the meat was too cooked for me but the wine was good.

 

14/04—BIG DAY I AM OFFICIALLY AN AUNTIE

Visit of 3 bodegas and we even tasted the wine. The famous wine in this area is called Torrentes. It is a white wine but I am not keen. However, I bought a rose to celebrate the birth of Emma. And we had a  PICADA=tapas.

They also make icrecreams with the wine and obviously I had to try. It is good; a bit weird though.

I really like Cafayate since it is tranquille but to go round you need a car and it is expensive.

L hostal cooked an ASADO and we were around 20 of us from  10 different countries and I even met a couple from Sheffield . Small world.

 

15/04

I celebrated too much the night before and I was hangovered and sick. Not great to go on the bus. I slept all the way so no pictures L.  I even had a siesta in the afternoon.

Salta is a bigger town than Cafayate with a lot of tourists going or coming back from Chile. The hostal is nice and I bumped into Adam (Israel) and Lucy (UK).

At night with Federico (Argentian) and Andy / Claire (UK) we went to see some  PEÑAS= typical danses with scarves and tried LOCRO= a type of stew with chick peasJ. I was obviously invited to danse as well as the others. It was great and we were the only tourists.

 

16/04

Off tomorrow to San Pedro de Atacama (Chile) where I cannot use my credit card (HSBC!!!), pain in the bom!!! Luckily, I speak the language. Tried a few banks and managed to change  into Chilean pesos y dollars since the tours are cheaper in dollars.Took me more than 1 hour,queueing and finding the bureau de change.Part of the adventure I suppose!!!

I have now more than 500 pics and I want to have them burnt on a CD before losing them.Another thing to sort out.

 

This afternoon, I will go round town and take a lift to go to the panoramic view. Then for my last night in Argentina, I will go for a nice steak and check tonight show since Salta celebrates its 425^th birthday today.
